Sharpening Kit

Client: Bergkvist, Germany

A case made of beautiful beech wood for the German brand Bergkvist. The case is meant for transporting and storing knife sharpening equipment. It houses a sharpening stone, a cleaning stone, and a cloth. The sharpening stone has two sides, one for general grining and the other for finer work.

The cleaning stone is used for cleaning the sharpening stone and to flatten it once it gets out of shape. The case has two clasps that hold it together.

Knives are often sharpened under a 15 degree angle. The user has two options here: 1. to place the stone straight on the lid and keep the knife under an angle of 15 degrees, or 2. to rotate the lid, lock it (under a 15 degree angle), place the stone on it, and keep the knife straight while sharpening.

The brand logo is engraved on top of the wooden case. The case has slots milled in the wood under the cloth for airflow, since the stones take a while to dry fully. I also designed other products for Bergkvist, among which a folding knife.
